What is this About page about? It seems like there’s almost always an About page. Fine, I’ll summarize what this is all about.
About Me
I can be described in 4 words – “extremely introverted iconoclastic misanthrope” So, there you have it. I don’t want to be your friend – I make up my own mind – And I think hairless apes are silly. I think I’m a Homo Sapien, I successfully bred with one so I’m close at the very least. Although some people might disagree with me on that.
I’ve been working with computers for almost as long as I’ve been wondering what is wrong with humanity, which is most of my life. I currently write software, mainly in Go, and do Dev Ops, mostly in AWS for the team I am apparently a senior member of. I have done development in C, C++, many different shell/scripting languages, Python, Go, and SQL, and I’m sure I’m leaving some out.
I’m also pretty good at data analytics. I did it for a while before I got abducted and forced back into software development. At one time I was pretty good with the AI thing (I’ve been interested in it for a while, I wrote a neural net program back in the late 80s. It could only recognize a couple of characters but it worked… slowly on an 8088 based PC) but I really like exploratory analysis. I enjoin finding the knowledge and information in data. It’s in there but is usually elusive.
About this blog
This blog is about my foray into 3D printing.
Although I’m still occasionally using my 3D printer, I found that I really didn’t have much need for it and it wasn’t as interesting as I had hoped. What I did learn though, is that I enjoy writing. It’s safe to say that I enjoyed writing the horrible articles as much or more than the 3D printing.
I’m archiving the old 3D printer articles – I’ll keep them around, they’ll just be in the closet if anyone is interested – and I’m switching to writing about writing.
I hope the writing will be better, and anyone who does find this blog enjoys what they read or learns something new.
