Editing

This lesson is about editing your work. Editing is something I’ve really come to both love and hate. I have been working on a story for some time and have gone back multiple times to Edit it. Usually after learning something or noticing something about what I was reading and realizing I probably didn’t do it in my story. So, I’ve rewritten parts of the story multiple times now. Although, I have those parts almost committed to memory now 🙂

The Lesson was to write something using Stream of Consciousness and then edit it. This describes it pretty well if you’re not familiar with what Stream of Consciousness is.

Update 2023-03-06:

Got full points for this again.

Good job.

SoC:

I was trying to set up autopayment for the life alert system I had set up for her the previous month.  Going to the web site I found the help FAQ on how to set it up.  I needed to log into the account and would find it there.  I selected the log in and there was a link to set up a new account.  I clicked that link and was brought to a page asking for my password and the “Verbal code” for the system.  The thing is, this is not an alarm so there is no verbal code.  After searching for the right page I finally resorted to the chat help feature.  I hate these because, in spite of all the talk about how smart ChatGPT is, most chatbots are useless when asking anything more complex than “what is my ballance.”

I asked, and it was about as helpful as I thought.  Thankfully there was a “did this help” button and I responded No, which connected me to a human, or at least a moderately more intelligent chatbot, but I think it was a human.  I told them the problem and lack of voice code preventing me from setting up the account and they asked me for – Account Number, Address of the account and, wait for it, voice code……….

After explaining this, they paused, no doubt talking to a manager or that guy in the corner who doesn’t bathe, has the social skills of raccoon feces but knows how to solve every problem, and sent a link to my e-mail which let me set up the account.

Edited:

I was trying to set up autopayment for the life alert system I had set up for my mother the previous month.  She had tried calling to do it but they were apparently hard to understand so she asked me to do it.  I decided to try the website.  I’ve taken to setting up web access to all her services and bank accounts so I can help her with things even though I’m on the other side of the country.  I tried logging in and there was a convenient link to follow when setting up a new account.  There was a problem, though.  It asked for a Voice code but the life alert system didn’t have one, that was only required for a home alarm.

I reviewed the FAQ, thinking that there may be a different way or site for the life alert log-in, but it all pointed to setting up an account the way I had tried.  After reading more FAQs I resigned myself to using the Chatbot help.  I don’t like using them because, in spite of all the talk about how smart ChatGPT is, most chatbots are useless when asking any unusual questions.  Which is what happened to me.  But, it did conclude by asking if it was helpful, so I selected No and was surprised to be immediately connected with a human.

I explained I was unable to set up an account because it required the voice code which I didn’t have because the life alert didn’t use one and they said they could help.  I assumed they would ask for the account number and maybe some other identifying piece of information but they asked me for the account number, the address of the account, and the voice code I didn’t have.  I reiterated that not having the voice code was the problem and they asked me to wait, eventually sending a link to my e-mail which let me set up the account.
